Use with caution

You clear this drug slowly, so its effects may be stronger and last longer. Starting with a lower dose may help avoid a bad experience.

The genes behind this label

The guidelines read one gene for LSD. Each card shows the two copies this person inherited and what they mean.

CYP2D6Your two copies: *4/*4

Poor metabolizer

Neither copy works.

What the guidelines say

What each guideline says about your result.

CYP2D6Poor metabolizer

In plain words
You clear this drug slowly, so its effects may be stronger and last longer. Starting with a lower dose may help avoid a bad experience.
What it means
No functional CYP2D6. In the pooled analysis of 81 participants, poor metabolizers had longer LSD half-lives and about 75% higher area under the curve for LSD and for 2-oxo-3-hydroxy-LSD than carriers of functional CYP2D6, and reported greater alterations of mind and longer-lasting effects. In a separate analysis of 213 participants, acute anxiety was inversely correlated with genetically determined CYP2D6 function, although dose and pre-drug mood were much stronger predictors of the experience.
What the research suggests
Expect higher exposure and a longer duration of effect. In a research setting, consider a lower starting dose with gradual increases and a longer monitoring period.
